I love all holidays almost equally. Understandably, Christmas has a special place in my heart, but that does not deter me from adoring all others. I am extremely excited for the ones preceding Christmas, especially Halloween! I love the costumes people can come up with.
Just the other day I saw a darling pair of pet costumes that one of the elves came up with. Lucky for you I took pictures. You cannot imagine how funny it is to see an elf walking gnomes! You may imagine them being similar, but they are really quite different in appearance!
I asked Paige how she did them and they sounded quite easy! She used faux-fur fabric, cut it into beard shapes, and attached elastic at the top.
For the cone shaped hats, she cut a large circle out of felt, divided it into quarters, ironed on fusible interfacing for stiffness, rolled them up, did an easy whipstitch up the seam, cut out another circle the size of the bottom of the cone, attached elastic to the inside of the cone, stuffed them, and sewed them closed with another whipstitch! That may seem like a lot of steps, (it is to me!) but she reassured me that it was really simple and comes together on it’s own.
Lastly, she made adorable little booties to use up leftover felt from the hats. She just cut out bootie shapes, sewed up the front and up to where they were like laces, and then attached two straps to tie them on.
This is an easy and adorable pet costume, which could accommodate dogs, cats, ferrets, whatever! It is sure to brighten everyone’s day, it did mine!
